My name is Carly. I belong

to The Order of the Hunters—a group of chosen who are given the gift to track

and kill those beings that go bump in the night. Oh yes, they are real, the

monsters that creep in the darkness. They hide in the gardens of our own minds

by making us believe they are nothing more than myths and legends. I’ve

traveled this road for two years now. It’s not the same highway, but at times,

when the sun is high in the sky and the road sweats from the heat, it feels

like it. I wish I could say what brought me to this point was a sense of honor

and nobility. In reality it was much simpler, it was revenge. Mom was taken by

Shai, the weigher of souls. </div>

Excerpt from Crash Into Me:
“Can I ask a question and have you answer with more than one word or one sentence that really says nothing?”
He stopped the car at a stop sign and turned to face me with a devastatingly sexy grin on his face. “Yes.”
I couldn’t help roll my eyes. He was either the most insufferable person I’d ever met or one of the funniest. I couldn’t decide which. “Where are we going and can you promise me you’re not going to do anything awful to me?”
“That’s two questions, Nina.”
The car began to roll again, and I let out a heavy sigh, hoping his dry humor was an indication that I wasn’t going to be killed anytime soon. “Okay, can I ask you two questions and get straight answers?”
“Of course. You can ask whatever you want and I’ll answer.”
“I’d like straight answers.”
His mouth hitched up at the corners into a sly smile. “As straight as you want.”
“Where are we going?”
“To see a house I’m planning to buy.”
“Really?”
He turned his head to look at me. “Do you want that to count as your second question?”
And after being scared shitless and almost killed, then confused and finally frustrated by his vague answers, I had to laugh. “No.”
“Then what’s your second question?”
“Are you going to do something awful to me out here in the middle of nowhere?”
Without a word, he stopped the car and put it into park. Then he leaned over, nearly touching my cheek with his lips, and pointed out my window.
“That’s the house, and I have no plans to do anything you wouldn’t like or even love. What do you think of
it?”
He was so close and smelled so delicious that I couldn’t think clearly. I turned my head slightly and his lips brushed my skin, sending a jolt of electricity straight to between my legs. Pressing my thighs together, I turned toward the window and pretended to look up at the house on the hill.
“It’s nice.”
“It’s twelve million dollars.”
Holy shit! In my mind, I counted the number of zeroes on a check for twelve million dollars. Then I imagined what I could buy for twelve million dollars. And even all that probably wouldn’t fill the house I was looking at.His breath drifted over my neck, and I leaned back slightly, wanting so much for him to kiss me or touch me with his hand. He did neither, though, even as he remained
there so close.
In my ear, he whispered in a voice that hit me somewhere deep inside, “See? Nothing bad.”
Crash Into Me Blurb:
Tristan Stone was powerful, commanding, sex incarnate. I had no choice but surrender to everything he was. His power. His decadence. His passion. He was all I never knew I needed. He wanted to possess me, and I wanted to be his everything. All I had to do was accept what he offered. But everything has a price. The world he gave me fulfilled my wildest dreams, but would that be enough when the past crashed into the present?

 “Paranormal Fun Facts”

Today’s post is provided by author Sherry Soule, who is celebrating the release of her newest novel, IMMORTAL ECLIPSE. If you like supernatural suspense mingled with a dash of chick-lit and a healthy dose of paranormal romance, then this is the book for you!

Sherry has put together three supernatural fun facts about her newest novel. In this post, you can learn more about the intriguing, supernatural legends that makeup the eerie world of the Summerwind Mansion.

Paranormal Fun Fact #1

A doppelganger is believed to be a ghostly double of a living person that haunts its living counterpart. Although pop culture references to doppelgängers—a German word translating to double-walker—are often used to describe people who resemble one another, the word has a rich and often sinister history, which has more to do with ghost stories. The fact that the apparition is presumed in most cultures to be a specter from the grave, may well account for the macabre reaction bestowed upon the doppelganger encounter.

In any case, a person is presumably being stalked by his own ghost, which not only provokes some complex questions about out-of-body experiences, but also conveys the conspicuous implication that the subject’s own time is up. There have even been several famous accounts of doppelgangers throughout history. Poet Percy Bysshe Shelley saw his in a dream, and Abraham Lincoln saw his doppelganger as a second face in the mirror. Both men saw them shortly before their deaths.

Have you ever seen your own doppelganger?

Paranormal Fun Fact #2

You hear footsteps upstairs when you know no one is up there. Doors slam unaccountably. Lights flicker. Unexplained shadows. The feeling of being watched…

These may be indications that your house is haunted. Paranormal experts say that a haunted house is described as a residence that is believed to have paranormal activity. Haunted houses are often regarded to contain the lost souls of deceased people who have lived on the property.

A haunted house can also contain poltergeists and malevolent entities, such as demons. Temperature fluctuations in certain rooms may prove it was the scene of at least one nefarious plot. Ghosts are considered the life force that remains after a person or an animal loses its physical existence. The ability to perceive this disembodied soul is considered by some to be a gift (or curse) of Second Sight or another sixth sense.

So, do you believe a house can be haunted by ghosts or other things that go bump in the night?

Paranormal Fun Fact #3

The ‘art’ of magic is an attempt to alter events by an unnatural, inexplicable, and unscientific method. Black magic has been traditionally referred to as the use of mystical powers for evil and/or selfish purposes. Black magic refers to magical practices that can cause misfortune, sickness, or even death to others. It is believed to be an ancient science that made use of chants combined with the power of thought to bring about results. These chants are very powerful. Just like positive thoughts can be used to bring good fortune, negative thoughts can bring about misfortune, too. The darkest of all the black arts is undoubtedly necromancy, the ancient ritual of resurrecting the dead.

Do you believe black magic can harm its intended victim? Have you ever been a victim of it?

Hope you enjoyed this post. It has been an honor to share these fun facts with all of you. If you haven’t seized your copy of IMMORTAL ECLIPSE yet, please do so. Chilling and steamy adventures await you! Now go feed your mind and read a book. Preferably mine. 😉

Hello, and thanks for letting me visit your blog!

How did I come up with my characters? I’d like to say I created them, but they were already in my head, fighting to break free! Then again, I think a lot of their quirks and personality traits came from years of observing people and storing their oddities inside a dark closet located in the back of my brain. I guess the closet got too crowded, so the characters picked through everything until they were fully formed and scrambled to the front of my mind. They’re a rowdy bunch, who is skilled at inflicting headaches, and I was no match for them, so I kicked them out onto my computer screen.

Children of Time Blog tour BadgeChildren of Time is full of many fully-developed characters that come to life off the page.
Shawna McCullough: She has endured a loveless, and sometimes abusive, marriage to Darren McCullough. In the beginning of the novel, we see Shawna take deadly action against Darren to defend herself. The guilt is something she lives with, but one thing she was able to call a blessing from those years of hell was a daughter named Alexis.
Darren McCullough: The brutal husband of Shawna McCullough. He dies in the beginning of the novel, but due to the changing timelines, he comes back, and he isn’t too happy. And he’s in league with a demon determined to tear the world apart.
Alexis: At the beginning of the first chapter, which is years after Shawna was forced to kill Darren, Alexis is six years old. She is bright, intuitive, and funny, and prone to strange dreams. On the night of the “first” timeline change, she has a dream of her own death at two years old. She clearly remembers (as clearly as anyone can remember anything at two anyway) dying in a hospital. She said she’d overheard the doctors telling a man she refers to as her father, but isn’t Darren, and her mother, a woman who isn’t Shawna, that Alexis had a brain aneurism and wasn’t going to make it. It was more than a dream, she said. It was real.
This memory, dream, or whatever it was scares her enough to want to sleep with her mother that night, but when Shawna wakes in the morning, Alexis is gone. Instead, sleeping next to her is a man named Mark LaValley, a man as confused as she is about his waking up in her bed.
Alexis is one of the children of Teret Finley and Decon Mangler from my novels An Inner Darkness and A Light In the Dark. She is known as a “child of time” because of the unique abilities she has.
Mark LaValley: The last thing Mark remembers before waking up next to Shawna is “living” in a dark world, a version of Hell, where a demon named Zuriz Falcon rules. Mark doesn’t know how he can be alive when he knows he’s dead. He remembers his own death clearly, and he remembers being in the dark world, which he assumed to be Hell, for what felt like an eternity. Because of his prior close proximity to Falcon, he evetually thinks he has an idea of what is going on, certain that Falcon is behind it.
It isn’t long before Mark and Shawna discover other changes. Not only is Shawna pregnant to the point of bursting with a child she discovers is Alexis (a fetus that has the same mental accuity as the six-year-old that had gone to bed with her the night before), but she has two new children, Tonya and Paris.
Tonya and Paris: Tonya is the older of the two. She is about eleven, while Paris is six. Tonya often has a bad attitude and can be a bit of a bully. Paris is sweet and looks at life in a more humorous way. Like Alexis, these two are also the children of Teret Finley and Decon Mangler and are known as the children of time.
Zuriz Falcon: The villain of the piece. He is cunning, manipulative, and cannot be trusted. He is such a liar, he can’t even trust himself. The dark world he rules over was created specifically to keep him out of the way. He will stop at nothing until he is out of his exile. He recruits Darren to do his bidding in the real world.
